Cat DeLuca is a private investigator and owner of "Pants on Fire Detective Agency", where she’s hired to follow liar, liar cheating spouses. All the DeLuca men are Chicago PD and all the DeLuca women are expected to get married and breed; something Cat’s annoying sister, Sophie, seems to have a good handle on.
Hired by Rita Savino to tail her cheating husband, Chance, Cat will find out there’s worse things in this case than an attraction her client’s hunky husband. Confronted by Chance while shadowing him, Cat learns Rita is not his wife, minutes before he walks into a building that explodes. Although the FBI rules the explosion the result of a gas leak and declares Chance Savino dead—Cat isn’t buying it.
Tracking Rita down at her apartment, Cat finds her dead on the floor with a knife in her chest and Chance Savino rummaging through the dresser. Turns out, Rita is a reporter for the Tribune and was onto a hot story involving gun smuggling and rare Australian diamonds; apparently the thugs involved weren’t too happy about the impending publicity.
Using clues from Rita’s apartment, her impeccable PI intuition and a little help from her friends, Cat will do her best to find answers. However, Cat will have to tread carefully as her family thinks she’s mentally unstable and the bad guys aren’t making her feel very welcome either.
Liar, Liar is very entertaining and Cat DeLuca is very endearing. With a great sense of humor—mostly of the rye, deadpan variety—Cat gives 110 percent to her job, which usually includes lots of sarcasm and a few physical altercations and guaranteed to elicit a few laughs along the way.
Fans of the Spellman Files will love Liar, Liar. Cat DeLuca definitely leaves you wanting more
