Sticks & Stones Book Review in Publishers Weekly

Sticks & Stones: A Cat DeLuca Mystery

... Larsen’s engaging second mystery featuring Chicago PI Caterina “Cat” DeLuca (after 2010’s Liar, Liar)... Janet Evanovich fans will relate to the humor and crazy characters, but under the fun is a well-crafted plot with all the elements of a classic whodunit. (Feb.)

Sticks & Stones Book Review from Book Lover Stop

I can’t say enough about Cat DeLuca, she is funny, and smart and quick on the take. She finds herself fighting to free her assistant Cleo who is up on murder charges for offing her sleazy ex-husband. There are too many people who want him dead but only one who did it. Meanwhile Cat is also trying to catch a slippery cheating husband with his pants down. I love this series reminds me so much of Stephanie Plum. I can’t wait to see what Cat is up to next!

KJ Larsen Says: Thanks for the great review, we can't wait to show our fans what happens next! Read the full review here

Sticks & Stones Book Review from Fiction DB

Cat DeLuca is smart and charming. She's an unlikely heroine and her partner, a beagle named Inga, is quite likely to eat the evidence. Sticks and Stones delivers steamy romance, intrigue and laugh out loud humor for a wickedly delicious read.

KJ Larsen Says: Wickedly delicious, sounds yummy! Read the full review here

Sticks & Stones Book Review from Genre Go Round Reviews

The latest DeLuca private investigative tale (see Liar, Liar) is a zany (not the Gingrich variety of zany) jocular thriller. The case against Cleo is a staple of the genre, but the eccentric cast brings an amusing freshness to the mix. Readers will enjoy DeLuca’s second case as the Larsen sisterhood provides an amusing whodunit.

KJ Larsen Says: The sisterhood appreciates your thoughts! Read the full review here

Sticks & Stones Book Review from Reader Views

... it contains a strong and independent female lead... interactions between the characters are both engaging and realistic... A third positive attribute is the strength of the main plot. The material is scintillating enough to stand on its own...

“Sticks and Stones” will appeal mainly to an adult female audience. There is humor infused into the pages to help alleviate some of the seriousness of the story. The character interactions combined with a solid plot make this a novel worth reading.

KJ Larsen Says: We totally agree! Read the full review here

Sticks & Stones Book Review from Mystery Scene

... Sticks and Stones is a delicious romp from start to finish. The author’s enjoyment in telling the story comes through in her tonguein- cheek tone that keeps readers grinning even through the scary parts. The plot is twisty, the villains are shades of gray, the sexy moments are discreetly brief, and the many disguises Cat uses are enough to make a costumer drool. Plus, Larsen’s tough, wisecracking protagonist—who always gets her man—will give Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum a run for her money.

KJ Larsen Says: We enjoyed reading your review almost as much as we did writing the book! Read the full review here

Sticks & Stones Book Review by Purple Queen Fairy Reads

Sticks and Stones is a funny detective who-done-it book with a female lead character, Cat De Luca.  This is her second mystery, the first being Liar Liar which I didn't read.  However, that doesn't stop me from enjoying the book as they are basically stand alone titles.  You will love Cat and her assistant Cleo who is being accused of murdering her husband in this book.  You will also like FBI agent, Chance Vincent who is Cat's love interest and Max and Toni who are spies that seems to be helping Cat all the time.

KJ Larsen Says: Thank you! We hope you pick up Liar, Liar. We know you'll love it as well! Read the full review here

Need a good laugh? And clever writing? And a feeling of joie de vivre? Something to chase away the bleak winter blues? Pick up a copy of Sticks and Stones by. K.J. Larsen.

An interesting point to mention before I get into the meat of this fun mystery; the authors are three sisters! I can only think they had a great deal of fun creating Cat DeLuca of the Pants on Fire Detective Agency and her sidekick Cleo Jones...

... Sticks and Stones is a really fun book. The sisters' first book, Liar, is worth the read also.

Sticks & Stones Book Review by Mystery Series Examiner

... Although Sticks and Stones shares the frequent humor that typified Liar, Liar, Larsen digs deeper in this novel into Cat's character. On display are two of Cat’s defining traits – her strong emotional attachment to her friends and family and her equally fervent need to see justice done. Both elements combine in the novel’s conclusion, forcing Cat to an action that is legally wrong but ethically right...
