Liar, Liar selected by Indie Booksellers for the September 2010 Indie Notables!

“Fans of Janet Evanovich will definitely enjoy this first book in a delightful new series. Cat DeLuca owns the Pants on Fire Detective Agency, which has a reputation for catching cheaters of all kinds. Plenty of action, and characters 'to die for.' Great fun!”
-- Rebecca Harrison, Lincoln's Loft, Hodgenville, KY

Liar, Liar: A Cat DeLuca Mystery

Cat DeLuca… makes a strong first impression in Larsen's comic, sexy debut…. Larsen (the pen name for sisters Julianne, Kristen, and Kari Larsen) should appeal to fans of Janet Evanovich and Lisa Lutz. (Sept.)

VERDICT Packed with action and wonderfully funny characters, this series debut is a masterstroke of hilarity. Cat De Luca is smart and charming in a scorned-woman-turned-to-avenging-all-cheated-upon-women way and is sure to appeal to fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum.

Liar, Liar Book Review from Murder by the Book

Move over, Stephanie Plum, Cat DeLuca is on the prowl!

… This book harkens back to the first few bad hair days of Janet Evanovich's iconic heroine, the aforementioned Stephanie Plum. "Liar, Liar" has zest and sass very similar to Evanovich's series, and Cat has her own eccentric smloving (a cross between smothering and loving) family. There's also flirting, backtalk, an over-the-top sidekick, and even a car disaster…

The differences? With "Liar, Liar," there's a little more plot focus, and Cat manages to anger way more people…. This book made me laugh out loud… Fun, fun, fun!

Liar, Liar Book Review from Nancy Smith Gibson

… This is one of those books you can’t put down. Funny and smart it’s a page-turner from first till last….

… And that’s what you’ll have reading this. Fun. With her policeman brothers and ‘retired’ mobster/deli-owner ‘uncle’ trying to keep her safe, she’s determined to solve the mystery in this hard-to-put-down book.

The authors of Liar, Liar are three sisters: Julianne, Kristen, and Kari Larsen. This is the first of what I hope is a long series of Cat DeLuca mysteries. I can hardly wait for the next one.”

Liar, Liar Book Review from Storey Book Reviews

I read this book almost in one sitting.  It reminded me a lot of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, they are both strong female characters, have overbearing Italian mothers and always seem to find themselves in a bit of danger but luckily have friends and family to help bail them out.

If you like to laugh you will love this book….like I said, I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading it at work (just don’t tell my boss!).  You won’t be disappointed.

Liar, Liar Book Review in Lesa's Book Critiques

I loved Liar, Liar.  Cat was a strong character, fighting against her family opinion.  The book had humor, without being slapstick.  And, it's hard to not salivate over the Italian food, particularly the cannoli, in the book.  How does it compare to the Stephanie Plum books?  The humor isn't as broad.  Cat is more competent than Stephanie, although the men in her life don't think she is.  The Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago is a perfect setting for this fun caper novel featuring an Italian American family, and the independent woman who is finding her own way, while keeping her family connections.  I hope Cat DeLuca and her Pants on Fire Detective Agency have a successful run.

Liar, Liar Book Review from The Reading Room

This action-packed caper is fun reading. Fast-paced, with a strong female lead and competing love interests, this mystery is perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series... First in a planned series. Recommend.

Liar, Liar Book Review from Heights Library

K. J. Larsen’s LIAR, LIAR is a laugh out loud romp in Chicago which introduces the Pants on Fire Detective Agency owned and operated by Cat De Luca, a young woman with attitude and a large family made up of many Chicago cops and interfering Moms.  Then there is the gorgeous man Cat is following around trying to prove he is a cheating husband.  Yes, Cat’s husband cheated on her and now she is out to corral all unfaithful men.

Liar, Liar Book Review from Journey of a Bookseller

This book will grab you in the first few pages and you won't want to set it down and do anything else until you finish it...

Julianne, Kristen and Kari Larsen, three sisters, have conspired to write this book. Their style is a lot like Janet Evanovich's. Fast paced, strong characters, a couple of love interests, and Cat DeLuca can shoot straight.

... I loved reading this and am already looking forward to the next book in the series. This story made me laugh out loud in some parts.

KJ Larsen Says: Wow, what a great review and thank you! The entire review from Journey of a Bookseller can be viewed here

Liar, Liar Book Review from bookfetish.org

Liar, Liar is very entertaining and Cat DeLuca is very endearing. With a great sense of humor—mostly of the rye, deadpan variety—Cat gives 110 percent to her job, which usually includes lots of sarcasm and a few physical altercations and guaranteed to elicit a few laughs along the way.

Fans of the Spellman Files will love Liar, Liar. Cat DeLuca definitely leaves you wanting more.

Liar, Liar Book Review from Literary Escapism

When I first read about Liar Liar by K. J. Larsen, I couldn’t help but be interested.  I can’t resist a book that claims to be written “with a spirit that readers of Janet Evanovich and Lisa Scottoline will love”, as I am a huge Janet Evanovich fan.  Thankfully I was not disappointed…

This book held my interest from page one….

I found it to be a well paced, quick read.  It definitely kept me entertained enough that I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.  If you like a good mystery with a little romance thrown in, I suggest you put this book on your “to buy” list when it comes out September 1st.  It’s decidedly worth it!
