What does a horse trainer, minister and irreverent baker have in common?
Three sisters, living very different lives, write the Pants On Fire Detective Agency Myseries. One sister is vegan, one’s vegetarian, and one will shamelessly suck a meat bone dry. We may disagree about some things but what brings us together is a voracious love of mystery.
As kids we were hooked on Nancy Drew. We’d love to live her powder-blue-convertible-life today with a lot more action from the handsome Ned. We devour mysteries with abandon, ship our favorites to each other across country and see who can solve the whodunit before the heroine.
One day last year we were in Mama’s kitchen making fudge. Mama makes fudge the old fashioned way; you beat it with a wooden spoon until your arms could fall off. The bone-sucking sister pounded the fudge. She was in a twit about an unsatisfying ending to an otherwise fabulous mystery she’d just finished.
“It’s crazy,” she ranted. “The butler couldn’t have done it. Every clue led to the brother.”
The other sisters, also disappointed with the ending, agreed.
“So why don’t you write your own mystery,” our parents said.
That was the craziest idea of all. And so we did.
LIAR LIAR, our first book in the Pants On Fire Detective Agency Series, delivers a satisfying and astounding finish. We wanted to create a character readers will resonate with. We believe Cat DeLuca is that person. She’s tough, smart and fun. Cat is a woman in the process of reinventing her life. She juggles real life challenges, a divorce, a new business and a serious dating slump. We foresee humorous twists and turns as Cat exposes cheaters and murderers, all the while discovering her most fabulous, powerful self.
